Adhesion and Bonding to Polyolefins

Authors: D.M. Brewis and I. Mathieson
Published: 2002
Number of Pages: 132 (This is a soft-backed is from the Rapra Review Reports, Vol. 12, No. 11, Report 143.)

Polyolefins have many and varied applications. However, they have very poor bonding properties. This review discusses ways of improving adhesion and bonding. It describes the theories surrounding adhesion of polyolefins and the analysis techniques which have been used to characterise the material surfaces. Methods of enhancing adhesion are then discussed. An additional indexed section containing several hundred abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database gives useful references for further reading.

Author / Editor Details: The authors are part of the Institute for Surface Science and Technology at Loughborough University. Dr Brewis has carried out research in the field of polyolefin adhesion over several decades and has published extensively. Dr Mathieson has recently completed a doctoral thesis on this topic.
