The seminar will introduce the background to the ‘End of Life Vehicle Directive’ (ELV), its origins in product-oriented environmental policy and implications for design strategies. It will help you better understand:
  1. The impact of ‘producer responsibility’ regulation on design strategies and material selection
  2. The principles of ‘clean design’ and ‘design for disassembly’
  3. How this will affect material selection and R&D strategies
What You Will Learn
What the changes in the automotive industry are that will impact the selection of paint / adhesives / plastics:
  • You will take away ideas for future material development to be the best automotive supplier – what product to develop to stay competitive on a daily basis
  • Design guidelines from other organisations affected by ‘product stewardship’ legislation
  • Overview of where the industry stand to comply with the ELV directive, what still need to be done to achieve the 2015 objectives to select the right product developments & be able to meet the automotive OEM demand
  • Understand how 'producer responsibility' legislation will affect material development strategies
